The Southern Highlands town of Bowral in New South Wales is a delightful place. And, as I discovered during my first visit there recently, it’s also home to a truly excellent coffee shop.
The Rush Roasting Co cafe is on the edge of the main shopping area and occupies an old service station. The conversion into a stylish, welcoming and buzzing café has been done very tastefully. A shipping container sits alongside the main building to service takeaway customers and what was the servo’s forecourt offers valuable short-term parking in this busy town.
The focus on great coffee is obvious here. There’s a roastery out the back and the continual flow of local customers was a great sign too. I visited three times, making use of the container offering to sit outside with our dog. The baristas were friendly and very knowledgeable and all three oat lattes were top notch. I tried the house blend and also their Costa Rica San Jorge, a surprisingly quaffable citrusy affair – a 1kg bag of the latter left Bowral with me!
It’s always great to see a great coffee shop doing good business. Rush offers a stylish and comfortable environment in which to enjoy their excellent coffees – keep up the good work!
